I chose rock climbing as my approach to reach out to those wanting to lead a more fulfilling life because it represents the summation of my life experiences. From overcoming the deleterious effects of child abuse and poverty to recovering from the humiliation of personal failures and financial ruin, rock climbing is analogous to how I’ve worked through life’s problems, strived to reach my potential, and most importantly, managed the fear and doubt that can accompany making change.
At 50, I took up rock climbing. Within a couple of years, I could handle routes with climbers 20 years younger and with several years more experience than I had. I was able to do so by using my years of knowledge and experience with fitness to gain an edge with strength, flexibility, nutrition, cardio and mental preparation. I’ve used this same approach to start a business, build a portfolio and live a more fulfilling life. It’s my goal for you to take what you need from my experience and apply it to your life, so you gain the edge needed to reach your goals on the rock or in your personal life.
